About the Foundation

The Stanford Australia Foundation is an initiative of the Stanford Australia Association, which was established in 1987 to link the substantial group of Stanford alumni in Australia.  The mission of the foundation is to “Enable more Australians to share the exciting experience of a Stanford education for the benefit of the Australian community”. 

The non-profit scholarship program provides an opportunity for Senior Executives in the Australian non-profit sector to undertake further study at the Centre for Social Innovation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. The program is designed for the complex challenges facing leaders in establishing and growing non-profit organisations.

With your generous support, the foundation has already raised an initial $100,000 endowment, a great step towards creating a vibrant Foundation that can grow its impact in the years ahead. 

2011 Scholarship Recipients

The Stanford Australia Foundation has awarded its 2011 Non-Profit Scholarships to:

• Dimity Fifer, CEO, Australian Volunteers International
• Samantha Meers, Managing Director and Trustee, Nelson Meers Foundation
• Margo Ward, CEO, KidsXpress

The 2011 winners increase the cohort of scholarships awarded by the Stanford Australia Foundation to nine, all of whom continue to have active leadership roles in the Australian not for profit sector.

2010 Scholarship Recipients

The Stanford Australia Foundation has awarded its 2010 Non-Profit Scholarships to:

• Nick Toonen OAM, Chief Executive of HOME Hospice
• Chris Boys, Director of Venture Development at Social Ventures Australia
• Pamela Sutton-Legaud, Executive Director of Zoos Victoria Foundation

 2009 Scholarship Recipient

The 2009 scholarship was awarded to Will Bonney, COO, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 

2008 Scholarship Recipient

The initial non-profit scholarship was awarded to Joe Collins, Executive Chairman Children’s Cancer Institute Australia.
